Last year in Fontana, SunGreen Systems and Stem completed the largest commercial solar and storage system in California (Source: SGIP Database) at Solar Atmospheres of California. This system consisted of a large Tesla battery system installed by Stem and full coverage rooftop and large cantilevered solar carports by SunGreen Systems.
Solar Atmospheres of California is a vacuum heat treatment company that specializes in the aerospace and super alloy industry. The heat treatment industry is a very energy intensive sector that requires large amounts of energy for a long period. The solution that Stem and Sungreen came up with was to make sure that the On Peak periods would be mitigated with large batteries. The large batteries however needed a lot of solar power so they could be charged economically.
This where the SunGreen difference came in. Traditional carports need to sacrifice mobility for production with columns throughout to support the solar panels. With some extra steel and height, SunGreen was able to install all of the columns along the property's edge and keep everything well above "truck height." This resulted in a much larger solar system which enables the battery to provide more savings to the client.
